Welcome to the Creston Golf Club Website!

The Creston Golf Club has been recognized as one of the most beautiful, fun and challenging golf courses in the interior of BC. Professionally designed and immaculately maintained, this wonderful facility is playable from a number of tees ranging from 5300 to 6500 yards, but don't let the length fool you, the club has hosted five of the most prestigious championships in the province and offers a great, yet enjoyable test!

The Selkirk Mountains tower above the town of Creston and the broad expanse of the Kootenay River Valley and Kootenay Lake stretch far into the horizon. With shimmering lakes and golden sand bunkers, the daily 'gallery' may consist of some of the abundant wildlife either observing from the fairways or lounging 'poolside'.  The rolling fairways and quick, undulating greens will take advantage of those distracted by the wonderful surroundings. During the 2004 BC Ladies’ Amateur Championship, play was suspended for a couple of minutes when a rather large moose decided to stop and observe the competitors approaching the 14th green.  Just days before the 2002 BC Senior Championship, a cougar decided to hide out for the day in the large stand of trees and brush between the 7th and 12 fairways.  Deer are a more commonplace site and when you are playing the 14th hole in brilliant summer sunshine there may be a number of turtles tanning on rocks or logs near the surface. Watch overhead for an osprey or heron cruising in for a look or an afternoon snack!

Summer 2006 saw an extensive reconstruction of holes #8 and #9.  Warren Radomsky was once again brought in to apply his skills to our fabulous terrain and did not disappoint!  He did a wonderful job of maintaining the character of the two holes while modernizing their playability.  Number 8 now plays almost 30 yards longer to a three tiered green guarded by pot bunkers covering the left third of the green.  Number nine measures about the same yardage but plays out an intimidating chute of trees to a fairway well guarded by bunkers on the left and a massive swale to the right.  The green is guarded by 3 pot bunkers to the back and left and has a large, deep sand trap covering the front two thirds of the putting surface.  Our members were concerned the holes would be easier but they play slightly more difficult but much more fair.

The variety of quality shots you will hit at Creston makes the golf experience most enjoyable. The par 3's range from 100 to 230 yards in length, par 4's from 300 to 475 and par 5's from 480 to 550. Uphill, downhill and even the odd side-hill lie will test your abilities. Be very aware of the elevation changes and swirling breezes that prevail and choose your club wisely as there is usually a bunker, lake or some other obstacle to receive your mistakes. Always have a good look at the putting surfaces while approaching the greens as they may fool you the first time you play here, and maybe even the second and third! A visiting golf professional admitted after his first round, "I had it going until I hit #13, I thought it was easy so I guess I let my guard down, then I don't really know what happened! I can hardly wait for another chance as it's such a fun place to play!" The theme is similar for most people who play here for the first time, they can hardly wait to get back at those two bad holes.  Many have stayed an extra few days to try to perfect their score!

Following your first round at Creston, relax on the clubhouse balcony, re-live the towering tee-shots hit at #7 and #12, and plan your return trip. Located just 3 miles south of Creston off Highway 21 on Mallory Road, the Creston Golf Club has licensed dining and visitors are made welcome. Bring your clubs, your camera and your friends, you will be glad you did!
